Plagiarism Policy

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Management, Economics, and Industrial Organization (JOMEINO) must be original and free from plagiarism. The journal adheres to internationally accepted standards of publication ethics and follows the principles and flowcharts of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Plagiarism Screening and Workflow

All submissions are screened for plagiarism by the Editorial Office using Turnitin plagiarism detection software as part of the initial editorial assessment prior to peer review. Additional plagiarism checks may be conducted after revision and before final acceptance, where deemed necessary by the editors.

Assessment and Editorial Decisions

Plagiarism reports are reviewed and interpreted by the Editor-in-Chief or a designated handling editor. Editorial decisions are not based solely on the overall similarity percentage but on a qualitative assessment of the similarity report and its academic context.

The evaluation takes into account:

  • the nature, extent, and location of the overlapping content;
  • whether the overlapping text consists of properly cited quotations, references, or commonly used methodological or technical descriptions;
  • the distinction between acceptable similarity and inappropriate reuse of previously published material, including self-plagiarism.

Manuscripts showing minor overlap, such as similarities arising from standard terminology, methodological descriptions, or properly cited sources, may be returned to authors for revision, clarification, or improved citation practices.

Manuscripts exhibiting substantial plagiarism or unacceptable self-plagiarism, including extensive verbatim copying, unattributed paraphrasing, or redundant publication, are rejected without peer review or at any stage of the editorial process.

Post-Publication Misconduct

If plagiarism is identified after publication, the journal will take appropriate corrective actions in accordance with COPE guidelines. These actions may include the publication of a correction, expression of concern, retraction of the article, and, where appropriate, notification of the authors’ affiliated institutions.

Ethical Standards

Plagiarism in any form is considered unethical publishing behavior and constitutes a serious violation of academic integrity. Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their work and for properly citing all sources.

Costs

All costs related to plagiarism screening are fully covered by the journal. JOMEINO does not charge authors any fees at any stage of submission, review, or publication.
