Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI Policy
OMEINO acknowledges the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI tools in academic writing and research workflows.
For Authors
AI tools (such as ChatGPT or similar large language models) may be used solely for limited purposes such as language editing, grammar correction, and improving the clarity or readability of the manuscript. AI tools must not replace the authors’ own intellectual contribution and must not be used to generate research hypotheses, scientific arguments, data analyses, interpretations, conclusions, or references. AI-generated content must not be presented as original scholarly work.
Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their manuscripts, including any content generated or modified with the assistance of AI tools. Any use of AI-assisted tools must be transparently disclosed in the manuscript (e.g., in the acknowledgements or in a dedicated disclosure statement). AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.
For Editors and Reviewers
Editors and reviewers must not use AI tools to process, assess, review, or make editorial decisions on submitted manuscripts. Manuscripts under review must remain confidential, and AI tools must not be used in any way that could risk disclosure of unpublished content or compromise ethical standards.
Consequences of Misuse
Failure to disclose AI usage by authors, or any inappropriate use of AI tools by authors, editors, or reviewers, may be considered a breach of publication ethics and may result in rejection or retraction of the article.
